Dynamic self-governance through decisions by consent and double-linked circles

I am currently reading We the People by John Buck and Sharon Villines. This is a book about dynamic self-governance or sociocracy. What I find most fascinating is that sociocractic organizations are dynamic by design. The organizational structure is such that the organization quickly can adjust and adapt to changed circumstances through a simultaneous leading-doing-measuring process. In addition to embedding feedback into the actual work, sociocracy embeds the feedback into its governance structure through double-linked circles/teams . The double-linking is a major innovation which is unique to sociocracy. The sociocratic governance structure simply makes it impossible to ignore feedback. First we have the principle of consent which means feedback cannot be ignored within circles. Then we have the double-linking which ensures feedback between circles. This structure ensures that feedback travels “up” and “down” between the circles. This means that a sociocractic organization is truly agile.

Here are some videos showing sociocracy in action.
