My Microblog: A Zettelkasten?

Niklas Luhmann used his Zettelkasten as a thinking and writing tool. It consists of 90,000 notes. He wrote 50 books and 550 articles. This can be compared with the 40,000 quotes and notes that I have collected during ten years of reading. I have a manuscript (in Swedish) for an unfinished book that I started writing before I started blogging.

I have started to consider whether I should finish the book and use my microblog (not this blog) as a kind of Zettelkasten. My notes are not linked to each other, while Luhmann inserted each note into his Zettelkasten with great care. My notes are, on the other hand, searchable. Luhmann worked manually. I think I will give it a try!

    Good luck with the Zettelkasten, Jan.

    Luhmann inserted his index cards chronologically and he exercised great care in 1. writing everything on the card in his own words and 2. linking them to other cards.

    Creating links forces you to re-visit your previous cards/thinking. Do this long enough and you find yourself having a conversation with your younger thinking self. And many wonderful things emerge from these conversations!
